Frequently Asked Questions
Queries About Your Appointment.
How much will the Groom Cost? Is My Dog V-Small, Small, Medium, Large, X-Large or XX-Large?
Rather than charging 'one-size-fits-all' prices based on your dog's breed, we have chosen to set our pricing based on size and coat-type. This is because those two variables have the biggest impact on the time it takes to groom your pet. We measure the height of your dog to it's back when standing to establish what the starting price will be. Then, according to the coat type, we may increase the price if it will effect the groom time significantly. Our promise to you is that if we over estimate and the groom takes less time than we expect, we won't charge the additional fee when you come to pick your perfectly pristine pooch!
Why do you take a non-refundable deposit?
We opened this salon because we love animals (particularly dogs). However (and we hope that this doesn't offend anyone), it is a business and we cannot afford to sit idle. If you book a slot and then do not turn up, even if there is a very good reason for not turning up, it is impossible to fill that slot at short notice. We do hold a list of 'call if you can fit me in' clients to try and reduce the impact of cancellations, but there is only so 'short' that notice can be. So, we only refund deposits if we have at least 24hrs notice of a cancellation. If you regularly cancel appointments, please do not be offended if we ask for a full non-refundable payment in advance.
Arrival and Collection Time
We offer a one-to-one service, so this means that it is really important to drop off and pick up pups at the times that we agree. To help you, I will call 15 minutes before the groom ends to let you know your pooch is ready for collection. That being said, things do happen and if you cannot pick up your dog at the agreed time, we can keep them in our comfortable dog-friendly conservatory, giving them regular comfort breaks, which will be charged at £2.50 per hour (or part there of).
Late arrivals are harder to accommodate because there may be another booking after yours. Please do not be offended if we have to cancel the appointment if you are more than 30mins late. This will also forfeit your deposit.
Can I Stay And Watch?
Because your dog loves you so much they can become excitable and sometimes anxious when they see, smell or hear you nearby. So, unfortunately, we have to say no to anyone staying on site while we groom. We want your pet to stay calm (it's what we are all about...), because when they move around more than usual it can increase the risk of accidents (...we're are also all about safety). Rest assured, your pooch will be happy and treated with all the love, care and kindness that they deserve while you are gone. And, the 'big reveal' will be all the better when you pick your happy pup up.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept card, cash and contactless payments. We also have annual packages available for pets that require a lot of attention. Please ask for more information or visit the relevant part of the website.
Frequently Asked Questions
The Things That we Don't Do Yet. And the Things that we Just Don't Do.
Do you offer Doggy Day-Care?
We will do soon. First, we want to ensure that we offer you a quality grooming service. Once we are happy that additional services would not be detrimental to our primary purpose, comfortable, safe and stress-free grooming, we will expand our offering to include day-care and possibly a cattery.
Do you do Hand Stripping?
This is a service that we will endeavour to offer at the end of 2021. At the moment, we want to focus on our core services before we offer specialist services such as hand stripping.
Our Matting Policy
Sometimes it is more humane to shave off matts in your dog's coat. As groomers this is not something that we want to do but for your pooch's welfare, it may be the only option.

Matts that are left in the coat will grow tighter and can restrict the airflow to the skin and become very serious. In line with the animal Welfare Act, we will not spend any longer than 15 minutes attempting to remove matts.

When dealing with stubborn matts, we will clip your dog a lot shorter than you have requested if it is in the best interest of your beloved pet. Whilst this is more human for the pooch for the matts to be removed, it comes with risks to nicks, cuts or abrasions due to hidden skin folds, warts, moles and sores below the matt. Matting of the ears especially can cause the pooch to shake their head as the matts are removed which can lead to blood rushing to the surface of the thin skin resulting in haematoma's.
The best way to avoid this is to make regular trips to the groomers and keep a regular brushing regime at home.
Extra charges may apply to heavily matted dogs due to the time it takes to safely and carefully remove them. We do not take responsibility for any after-effects, or injury caused by matts and you will be required to sign a waiver prior to the groom taking place agreeing to our limited liability with regard to dealing with matting and us using our discretion during the groom when safely removing matts from your dog's coat.
Do You Do Anal Glands?
Vets now recommend that expressing anal glands should only be done by a qualified veterinarian. As such, we do not and will not offer this service.
